Havana Club finishes rum in Irish whiskey casks
By Miona MadsenPernod Ricard-owned Havana Club finished the latest rum in its Icónica Collection in Irish whiskey casks from Redbreast.

The new expression brings together two Pernod Ricard-owned brands: Cuban rum Havana Club and Irish Distillers’ Redbreast whiskey, made at the Midleton Distillery in Cork, Ireland.
Since its inception in 2016, the Tributo Collection has honoured Cuba’s heritage and rum culture.
The 2025 release is the eighth rum in the collection and was finished in Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish whiskey casks.
Limited to 2,967 individually numbered bottles, ultra-premium Tributo 2025 was produced with the guidance of the maestros del ron Cubano (Cuban rum masters) and built on generations of knowledge, precise ageing, and blending techniques.
Asbel Morales, maestro del ron Cubano and the curator of the Tributo collection, said: “Tributo 2025 is a celebration of Havana Club’s pioneering approach to successive ageing and blending, an art we have perfected over generations of maestros del ron Cubano, redefining the art of Cuban rum-making.
“By finishing this rum in Redbreast whiskey casks, we introduce a new dimension to our craft, uniting the finest Cuban rum and Irish whiskey traditions to create a truly extraordinary expression.”
Offered at a cask strength of 43% ABV, Havana Club Icónica Tributo 2025 displays aromas of vanilla, dried fruits, and subtle Sherry, followed on the palate by notes of candied orange, fruitcake, plantain crisps, hints of spiced undertones and toasted oak.
David McCabe, master blender at Midleton Distillery, added: “Redbreast is the definitive expression of single pot still Irish whiskey, celebrated for its signature influence of Sherry cask maturation. When the opportunity arose to collaborate with Havana Club, we were delighted and privileged to take part in this very exciting project.
“Redbreast and the maestros del ron Cubano share a deep respect for traditional know-how, the transmission of expertise and the relentless pursuit of excellence. This collaboration is a tribute to that shared commitment, bringing together two iconic spirits honouring craftsmanship while pushing the boundaries of flavour exploration.”
Tributo 2025 will be available in more than 20 international markets starting in April, with a recommended retail price of €450 (US$467).
Last month, Havana Club announced its plans to apply for a geographical indication (GI) for Cuban rum with the European Union (EU), following a signed bill in the US to block the Cuban trademark.
The brand also announced the return of its team-based bartending competition, The Cocktail Maestros, for 2025.
