UK bar delivers cocktails by drone
By Lauren BowesBar group Revolución de Cuba has partnered with rum brand Havana Club to deliver cocktails by drone across the UK.
Throughout August, some of the bar group’s best-selling cocktails – including Banana Hammock, Tutti Fruiti, and Cuban Sangria – arrived into consumers’ hands by drone, with people in Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, and Derby able to enter a competition to receive drinks for free.
The delivery service is part of a campaign called ‘Catch cocktails, not feelings’. The group now plans to extend the scheme into the new year.
The group’s brand operations director, Alex McMillan, said: “This summer we wanted to deliver an innovative new way of serving up some of our best-known cocktails while also making the most of the British summer – even if the sunshine is short-lived.
“There have been drone cafés, restaurants and even drone waiters seen before, but we believe we’re the first in the UK to fly drones delivering refreshing summer cocktails to our guests in their own homes.
“We’ve worked closely with Havana Club rum to create delicious cocktails that are perfect for summer and now, with the help of our drone, can be delivered straight to our valued customers.”
Revolución de Cuba is part of the Revolution Bars Group, which underwent a restructuring earlier this year, with 18 sites closed.
