Volcan de mi Tierra debuts Blanco Tahona

LVMH-owned Volcan de mi Tierra has expanded its Tequila range with the launch of Blanco Tahona.

The expression was inspired by the ‘silky white smoke’ that covers a volcano after eruption.

Marcelino Lucke, Volcan de mi Tierra’s maestro tequilero, explains the process behind the new expression: “To craft Blanco Tahona, we crush our agaves using a two-ton volcanic stone wheel (named tahona), true to the ancient way of making Tequila.”

The liquid is described as ‘crisp, herbal and subtly sweet’ with notes of spice, cooked agave, dulche de leche, almond and a hint of light smokiness.

It is recommended served neat or over ice.

The brand’s range is made without any additives and using 100% Blue agave. The liquid is then matured in both French and American oak casks.

Santiago Cortina Gallardo, co-founder and CEO, said: “Blanco Tahona is the perfect addition to our award-winning prestige Tequila portfolio, taking consumers to discover a unique blanco profile that showcases the natural aromas and sweetness of cooked agave – something only our craftsmanship can do.”

Blanco Tahona will be available to buy through Clos19 and specialist retailers from the end of June, priced at RRP £120 (US$153).

LVMH’s wine and spirits arm, Moët Hennessy, launched its ultra-premium edition of Volcan de mi Tierra Tequila, X.A, in the UK last year.

The brand made its debut in the UK in 2021.

Established in 2017, Volcan de mi Tierra is a collaborative effort between Moët Hennessy and the Gallardo family.

‘Volcan de mi Tierra’ translates into English as ‘land of the volcano’. The brand’s distillery sits at the foot of the volcano.
