OakPacker whiskey uses air-harvested water
By Nicola CarruthersKamiki Drinks has released the ‘world’s first’ whiskey infused with air-harvested water, called OakPacker.
The American single malt whiskey uses air-harvested water to reduce reliance on traditional sources and promote sustainability, the brand said.
OakPacker uses ‘innovative’ technology to collect pure, clean water directly from the atmosphere. The non-chill-filtered whiskey is made from the ‘finest American single malt whiskeys’.
The name of the brand pays homage to the role squirrels pay in growing oak trees, as they bury acorns that later sprout into oak trees.
Tasting notes include aromas of molten milk chocolate, spice-roasted pecans, candied ginger, marzipan, stewed prunes, carrot cake, hazelnuts, and allspice, followed by flavours of baked fruit and Italian biscotti on the palate.
The finish is said to carry notes of milk chocolate, toasted walnuts and fruit jam.
OakPacker is bottled at 46% ABV and is available in 750ml bottles in the US.
Kamiki Whisky recently took home a Master medal in this year’s Asian Spirits Masters competition, part of The Global Spirits Masters Competitions.
In August last year, the US government’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) published its proposed standards for American single malt.
