Franklin & Sons hosts mental health events

British tonic and mixer brand Franklin & Sons has teamed up with hospitality support organisation So Let’s Talk to sponsor events during Mental Health Awareness Week (15-21 May).

The events are taking place in Manchester, UK

The partnership will bring advice and support to consumers and industry workers with events covering mental, financial, and physical health. The events take place between 15-17 May across several locations in Manchester, UK.

With half of all hospitality teams experiencing ‘some form of negative mental health’ during their career, according to Franklin & Sons, bartenders will be equipped with ‘essential mental health tools’.

James Stimson, senior brand manager, said: “Franklin & Sons are proud to be part of the movement to bring positive cultural change and support to all the remarkable people within our fantastic community. Most of the team and I come from a bartending background, so we understand some of the pressures and stresses prevalent within the hospitality industry.

“With the support from our bespoke sessions and mental health week events, we hope to help the community challenge, navigate, and alleviate the mental, physical, and financial stresses of the industry, and we are honoured to play any part we can in that.”

On Monday 15 May, Feel Good Club, located in the city, will host an invite-only event from 5pm-7pm BST, with industry leaders hosting a panel discussion on mental health inside hospitality.

On 16 May, an event will be held at The Oast House from 6pm-10pm, celebrating hospitality with live music from GigPig; and on 17 May venue Speak In Code will hold an open event for management and owners, with a panel discussion topic titled ‘How the drinks industry can support trade’.

Paddy Howley, co-founder of So Let’s Talk, added: “Our mission is to 86 [get rid of] the silence. We recognised early on that the support of drinks brands would be key in that mission. Partnering with Franklin & Sons just made sense for us. We can’t wait to create more positive change together.”

The tonic and mixer brand has also set up a hospitality support fund, pledging to support more accounts within the on-trade.

The fund provides bespoke two-hour mental health sessions for their employees and management teams.
