Spirit France posts 30% sales growth

Alcohol manufacturer Spirit France saw sales soar by 30% last year, driven by Calvados Boulard.

Calvados is a French apple-based brandy, made in Normandy

The company’s Calvados sales increased by 18% in volume.

The category’s global sales recorded a boost of 4.7% in 2022, according to Interprofession des Appellations Cidricoles (IDAC) data cited by Spirit France. The IDAC is a trade association for Calvados.

Serge Der Sahaguian, CEO of Spirit France, said: “This exceptional performance confirms the relevance of our strategy, based on the development of our premium brands in high-added-value markets, with our partners and importers around the world.

“In particular, Calvados Boulard had a record year in terms of shipments, especially in North America.”

Calvados Boulard played a hand in the extension of cocktail bar Le Syndicat’s premium ready-to-drink (RTD) range Féfé, with its Calvados canned RTD made with Calvados Distillerier Boulard and infusions of lemon peel, green grape juice, lemongrass, lavender, black pepper, pink berry, elderflower and bitter orange peel.

From 27 March to 31 March, Calvados Boulard will be present in three US states (Illinois, Texas and California), during masterclasses and trade events organised by the IDAC for the promotion of Calvados.

A new report recently revealed exports of US spirits reached a record high last year, but American whiskey failed to surpass pre-pandemic levels.
