The rum is now available in 114 Waitrose & Partners stores across the UK.

Edmund Wood, owner and founder of The Cartmel Spirit Company, said: “This is another exciting step in the growth of the Belgrove Rum brand.

“We look forward to our award-winning spirits reaching an even wider audience and to developing a fruitful long-term partnership with Waitrose.”

The announcement comes as Belgrove celebrates receiving a coveted Masters medal in the 2023 Rum & Cachaça Masters.

The British spirits brand’s two premium, single-origin rums, Belgrove Hazelnut Rum and Belgrove Spiced Fig & Blackberry Rum, are distilled from demerara sugarcane grown on the mineral-rich banks of Guyana’s Demerara River.

The spirits are aged in oak barrels in the Caribbean before being imported to the UK and infused with all-natural flavours.

Both rums are bottled at 40% ABV, and sold for RRP £30 (US$36.25).

Belgrove Hazelnut Rum is said to be smooth, well-balanced and deliciously complex, with a  combination of rich, toasted hazelnuts and notes of cocoa and vanilla.

It is recommended served over ice, with a mixer or in cocktails such as an Espresso Martini or Old Fashioned.

Meanwhile, the oak-barrel ageing of the Belgrove Spiced Fig & Blackberry Rum ensures the all-natural flavours of ripe fruit and vanilla are ‘perfectly rounded’ in this delicately spiced rum.

Made with single-origin demerara rum, it boasts hints of cinnamon and honey that complement the fig and blackberry notes to create a ‘full-bodied, subtly nuanced’ spirit.

It is said to be ideal for sipping, serving with a mixer, or in cocktails such as a Mojito or a Hot Toddy.

Belgrove Rum is also stocked in Selfridges, the Whisky Exchange, Daylesford, House of Malt, Amazon, Master of Malt and in cocktail bars throughout the UK.

The brand is also exported to Germany, Austria and The Netherlands.
