Alexandrion Group opens second distillery
Romanian spirits producer Alexandrion Group has opened a second distillery to increase production of its Carpathian Single Malt whisky.
Located adjacent to the group’s first distillery, situated in Prahova County, Romania, this second production site boasts double-distillation copper pots that will be used in the distillation of its flagship whisky, Carpathian Single Malt.
Dr Nawaf Salameh, founding president, Alexandrion Group, said: “Alexandrion Group is rapidly expanding and this great progress generates the need to increase the production capacity for the flagship brands in our portfolio, which are required in ever greater quantities, both in Romania and abroad.
“We need state-of-the-art distilleries that allow us to meet the demand and, at the same time, to maintain the exceptionally high quality of our beverages.
“Yesterday (12 February) we celebrated the success of a very complex project that spanned over five years. It took us two years to determine the technical requirements, and it took the producer, one of the largest and most experienced technology suppliers in the world, founded in 1912, another two years to produce it, and we needed one more year to make it operational.
“At yesterday’s event, we honoured the efforts and expertise of all the designers and engineers involved in this project, and Allan Anderson, whisky director and master distiller of Carpathian Single Malt, and wished success to the team which will be operating the distillery.”
The producer operates one of the largest bottling centres in Southeast Europe.
Brands produced at the distilleries include Carpathian Single Malt, Brâncoveanu Vinars, Alexandrion, Saber Elyzia and Kreskova Vodka.
Salameh continued: “The success of an alcoholic beverage depends on three key factors: ingredients of highest quality, the experience and knowledge of the team that produces it, and the high-performance technology. We have all these at the Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distilleries.
“Other distilleries will follow, we already have the design for the next one, which I will announce at the right time. In the USA and in Greece we already have two distilleries under construction.
“When you are a producer, it is very important to be able to open production units in the countries where you sell your products and produce for those markets.”
