Caskade whisky honours Celtic Connections

Independent Scottish bottler Caskade has unveiled a limited edition whisky, called Grace Notes, to celebrate 30 years of the Celtic Connections music festival.

The Caskade whisky is bottled at 48.6% ABV

Celtic Connections is a festival that takes place every January in Glasgow, Scotland.

Grace Notes is a marriage of whisky from three single ex-Bourbon American oak casks, distilled at Teaninich Distillery, Alness in the Highlands of Scotland, and aged for 10 years.

Donald Shaw, the creative director of Celtic Connections, handpicked the whisky.

He said: “We are delighted to celebrate 30 years of Celtic Connections with this special limited edition whisky, bottled by Glasgow’s own Caskade.

“Much like the country’s musical traditions, whisky holds an important place at the heart of Scottish culture and Grace Notes makes for a fitting accompaniment to this momentous milestone for the festival.”

The bottling follows the brand’s release of Born in a Storm, an Orkney-made, 13-year-old single malt. Born in a Storm was created in collaboration with Scottish pop band Deacon Blue.

Only 752 individually-numbered bottles of Grace Notes will be released. Clocking in at 48.6% ABV, the liquid delivers orchard fruits and light oak aromas on the nose, following with notes of cocoa, pear, and vanilla on the palate. These flavours open up to a slow finish of light spice and citrus.

The bottling will be available from Monday 23 January via caskadedrinks.com, and in person at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall during Celtic Connections.
