Brown-Forman promotes executive

Marshall Farrer has been appointed executive vice-president, chief strategic growth officer for Brown-Forman.

Marshall Farrer will take up the new role on 1 January 2023

Farrer will take up the position from 1 January 2023; he currently serves as president, Europe.

In his new role, Farrer will work closely with Lawson Whiting, president and CEO of Brown-Forman, and the company’s leadership team to build key partnerships and growth opportunities.

Whiting said: “Marshall’s understanding of our consumers, the spirits industry, and the global market trends will help unlock new pathways to growth for Brown-Forman.

“His expertise at advancing strategic initiatives, opportunities, and relationships, coupled with 24 years of global spirits knowledge, make Marshall the ideal person to not only lead our European business, but also take on this important corporate development work.”

Farrer has been on the executive leadership team since 2020. He also sits on the board of directors, a position he has held since 2016.

Furthermore, he is a fifth-generation family shareholder. Farrer is based in Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

In October, Brown-Forman agreed to buy Venezuelan brand Diplomático, the world’s leading ultra-premium rum, for an undisclosed sum.

Brown-Forman, whose portfolio includes Jack Daniel’s, announced a number of changes to its executive team earlier this year.

Plus, at the start of 2022 the company named Jan Singer as one of its board members.

The company also formed distribution businesses in Belgium and Luxembourg, and opened a new office in Brussels
