Edinburgh Gin expands RTD range

Ian Macleod Distillers has introduced two flavours to its Edinburgh Gin ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktail range.

The new additions to the range both clock in at 8% ABV

The Negroni Spritz and Lemon Spritz join the brand’s canned RTDs Rhubarb & Ginger with Ginger Ale, Gin & Tonic, and Raspberry Gin Fizz. The latter was introduced in 2020, and was made by infusing sparkling white wine with Edinburgh Gin’s raspberry liqueur.

Neil Mowat, brand director at Edinburgh Gin, said: “As industry leaders our RTD range has always boasted a variety of wonderful flavour combinations, and our new Spritz cocktails add a touch of summer time elegance to our offering.”

“More so than ever, we’re all looking forward to a well-deserved relaxing summer, and nothing accompanies a summer day like a perfectly mixed, refreshing cocktail.”

The Negroni Spritz sits at 8% ABV, and blends Edinburgh Gin Classic London Dry with orange bitters and vermouth, topped with carbonated soda.

Meanwhile, the Lemon Spritz, also clocking in at 8% ABV, sees lemon mixed with Edinburgh Gin Classic London Dry and sparkling white wine.

The brand said the RTD category is one of the fastest-growing segments within alcohol, having seen a 16% boost in 2021, led mainly by gin-based variants, which account for almost one-in-two of all pre-mixed RTD cans sold in the UK.

Jack Daniel’s Country Cocktails took the title of RTD Brand Champion 2022, after growing by nearly a third in 2021, following steady year-on-year growth.

Last month, Edinburgh Gin teamed up with Scottish tourist attraction The Real Mary King’s Close to launch tasting tours.
