Kwānt to reopen in Mayfair

Erik Lorincz will reopen his acclaimed London bar Kwānt at a new site located on Stratton Street in Mayfair this autumn.

The reopening of Kwānt will see a new menu, with a focus on UK liquids

Kwānt’s original site on Heddon Street was forced to close in 2021 after its sister restaurant and lease partner, Momo, went into liquidation. The new venture is financially backed by a friend of Lorincz based in Slovakia.

Since the closure, the ‘five-star tropical bar’ has been operating as a pop-up, and currently holds a summer residence at Me Ibiza hotel on the east coast of the Spanish island.

Kwānt’s new permanent bricks-and-mortar venue will be found metres from Green Park tube station on the previous site of Café Nero. Unlike the original venue, which was located in a basement, this new site will operate on the ground floor, with a large glass frontage offering lots of natural light.

The reopening will be accompanied by a new menu, with a focus on UK-sourced liquids with English wines and vermouths.

The food menu will offer small plates with a Moroccan influence, including fish, oysters and vegetable carpaccio.

The opening team will include Giusy Castaldo, who is currently positioned as senior bartender at Baccarat Bar in Harrods.

The fit-out for the new venue will begin this summer, and is expected to be completed in late autumn.
