The UK leg of the competition is inviting‘rising stars’ of the bartending and mixology world to showcase their cocktail skills, and is now open for entries from those aged between 18 and 27.

Lee Hyde, senior beverage expert at Monin, said: “After almost two years of forced separation, creating moments of togetherness is more important than ever.

“So, this year we are challenging contestants to channel their creativity and skill through style, emotion and theatre to deliver a cocktail experience that can be enjoyed and even felt through a shared experience.”

This year, the theme is ‘sharing memorable moments’, in the spirit of spending time together.

Hyde added: “We’re hoping that entrants will use their creativity to develop a drink that has something unique to offer and that will live on in the audience and judges’ thoughts, well beyond the end of the competition.”

The competition will kick off with two regional heats – the first on 26 July in Manchester, and the second one on 9 August in London.

The UK final will take place on 6 September, and the winner of this round will bag an all-expenses-paid trip to Bar Convent Berlin in October 2022, including flights and hotel accommodation.

The UK champion will then head to France for the international final, to compete for the chance to be crowned the 2022 Monin Cup winner.

The winner of the international final will receive a global prize.

Entries close on 17 July 2022.

Last week, ultra-premium, Nicaraguan rum brand Flor de Caña invited bartenders from around Europe to enter the 2022 edition of its Sustainable Cocktail Challenge.
