Brighton Gin launches Artist’s Edition Pride labels

Independent producer Brighton Gin has collaborated with a local artist to release two limited edition label designs for Pride month.

The limited edition bottles are available throughout Pride month

Celebrating the diversity of Brighton’s queer scene, the exclusive Pride bottles have been designed by Brighton-based artist Dave Pop.

Specialising in bright, bold pop art, Pop’s art is inspired by Brighton’s ‘cheeky’ seafront and bright lights. He uses vintage fairground-style art and carousel horses in his artworks.

The two distinct label designs created for the partnership feature bright, colourful depictions of merpeople holding cocktails, wrapped in a scroll that says ‘Cheers Queers’. They are included on the brand’s 40% ABV Pavilion Strength bottlings.

Artist Pop said: “I chose merpeople for my Pride label design because they are perfect for my saucy seaside style of art, and also there are tattoo parlours on every corner in Brighton. And ‘Cheers Queers’ was an obvious choice to celebrate the wonderful diversity of Pride.”

The bottles have been released with an initial run of 500 units in each design, all of which have been individually signed and numbered by the artist.

Kathy Caton, founder of Brighton Gin, said; “I am blown away by Dave Pop’s work. These bottles encapsulate the spirit of Brighton and everything that we stand for and love about this city.

“After several years of cancelled Prides because of the pandemic, I love the celebratory quality of his design and his fabulous ‘Cheers Queers’ tag line.”

Each year Brighton Gin collaborates with an LGBTQ+ artist to raise money for the Brighton Rainbow Fund, a Brighton & Hove-based grant-giving fund for local LGBTQ+ and HIV/Aids organisations. From each bottle sold, 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Rainbow Fund.

“We’re very proud of our track record in giving back to our community,” continued Caton. “We are delighted to again be supporting the Rainbow Fund by raising crucial funds to support grassroots LGBTQ+ organisations in our city.”

The limited edition bottles are on sale throughout Pride month (1-30 June) and Brighton’s summer season. The two 700ml Pavilion Strength bottle designs are priced at RRP £39.50 (US$48.21) each.

The brand’s portfolio also includes a 57% ABV Seaside Navy Strength gin, priced at RRP£47 (US$57.37) per bottle.
