Sydney Whisky Week Festival to return

The Whisky List, in partnership with men’s lifestyle publication Man of Many, is bringing the Sydney Whisky Week Festival back for another year.

The nine-day festival will conclude with Australia’s premium whisky tasting event, The Whisky Show

Launched in 2021, Sydney Whisky Week was founded with a vision to create the ‘ultimate playground’ for whisky lovers, and aims to bring together global brands and bars for a nine-day celebration of the spirit.

This year the festival will run from Friday 13 May to Saturday 21 May, and will feature free whisky samples at participating venues, ticketed whisky dinners and tastings, as well as meet-the-distiller events.

Co-founder of The Whisky List Oliver Maruda said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Man of Many for the return of Sydney Whisky Week this year, a real celebration of whisky with Sydney’s best whisky bars, whisky brands and The Whisky Show. [There’s] something for everyone to try, regardless of whether you’re new to whisky or a seasoned whisky lover.”

The festival is being sponsored by six brands, including Bushmills, Hellyers Road, Ledaig, Manly Spirits, Shinobu and Westward Whiskey, which will each be offering free pours of their whiskies at participating Sydney Whisky Week venues.

Bars taking part include: Archie Rose, Banchō, Highlander Bar, Jolene’s Sydney, Kittyhawk, Nola, The Doss House, The Roosevelt and Webster’s Bar. More venues are expected to be announced.

Free samples can be claimed by downloading The Whisky List app from the Google Play and App Stores. Drinkers must tap on the ‘bars feature’ on the Sydney Whisky Week page and ‘check in’ to the bar they would like to claim their sample from.

Each of the sponsor brands will also host separate themed ticketed whisky tasting events or dinners.

Frank Arthur, Man of Many co-founder, said the publication was proud to encourage ‘Sydneysiders’ to get out and explore their own city and discover a new love of whisky.

Arthur said: “Sydney Whiskey Week is a great opportunity for the community to come together and explore our city’s world-class bar scene in a fresh way. We have an incredible and eclectic line-up of venues participating in the event all offering something unique. It’s a fantastic reason to support your local bars, and a great excuse to go out and drink whisky.”

The Sydney Whisky Week festival will conclude with Australia’s premium whisky tasting event, The Whisky Show, now in its 11th year, from 20-21 May. The show will host more than 40 whisky brands with 100 different whiskies to sample from Australia, Scotland, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, Japan and the US.

Tickets for all these events are available at sydneywhiskyweek.com.au.

This month will also see the return of the Fèis Ìle festival on Islay, and the National Whisky festival of Scotland.
