Summit of the Americas announces 2023 dates
The International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) has confirmed the 2023 Summit of the Americas show will be held on 18-21 April next year at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The 2023 Summit will follow a different day pattern to previous years, with the Opening Reception to take place on Tuesday 18 April, before the exhibit booths and private rooms open to attendees from 19-21 April.
The announcement follows the conclusion of the 2022 Summit, the first in-person IAADFS event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw 800 representatives from the duty free and travel retail industry in attendance.
IAADFS board chairman Rene Riedi said: “We were pleased with the results of the 2022 Summit. We’ve received good feedback about the 2022 event, both in person and through surveys conducted with attendees and exhibitors, and we’re looking forward to building on this success for 2023.”
IAADFS had intentionally scaled back the size of the 2022 event, taking into consideration the impact that COVID-19 has had on the industry.
“Although 2022 attendance was obviously less than pre-pandemic levels, attendees and exhibitors alike commented favourably about the event – about the quality of attendees, the quality of exhibitors, and how prepared buyer attendees were to conduct business,” commented IAADFS president and CEO Michael Payne.
“While we went with a different format for 2022 for exhibits, survey feedback shows that attendees and exhibitors are looking forward to a return to a more conventional exhibit hall layout for 2023, so we’ll be working on that plan for next year.”
The space request process for the 2023 Summit is anticipated to begin in late summer 2022, with registration and housing to open soon thereafter.
IAADFS intends to continue providing some level of content sessions as well as multiple opportunities for valuable networking time.
IAADFS will provide regular updates about the 2023 Summit to past attendees and exhibitors and through the industry trade press.
