Bardinet brings coffee-flavoured brandy to UK

La Martiniquaise-Bardinet has launched Bardinet Coffee in the UK and unveiled a series of signature serves for the flavoured brandy.

Bardinet recommends serving its coffee variant in a L’Espresso Renoir cocktail

Launched in September 2021, the expression is the first in the new Bardinet Flavours collection and combines the brand’s flagship brandy with Arabica and Robusta coffee.

Tasting notes include roasted coffee aromas, sweet fruits and bitter coffee on the palate, finishing with prunes and a ‘rich coffee finale’.

Bottled at 28% ABV, the coffee-flavoured variant is recommended served over ice, in long drinks or mixed in cocktails.

The Bardinet team has taken inspiration from French café culture to create three ‘easy-to-make’ barista-style cocktails that bring together the flavours of brandy, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and more.

James Collins, UK brand manager, said: “Brandy is a hugely versatile spirit which pairs really well with coffee due to its rich, woody aromas and flavours.

“Our new cocktail creations showcase how easy it is to create delicious flavour combinations yourself using Bardinet Coffee, whilst paying homage to the brand’s unique French heritage and French café culture.”

Among the serves is L’Espresso Renoir, which combines Bardinet Coffee, the brand’s VSOP brandy, espresso, vanilla syrup, cocoa power and grated dark chocolate.

The drink is named after French impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, with impressionist artists often frequenting French cafés, according to the brand.

Meanwhile, the Montmartre Melt takes its name from an area in Paris. It is a mix of Bardinet Coffee, dark rum, espresso, vanilla syrup, and an optional scoop of rum and raisin ice cream.

Finally, the Bordeaux Bohemian cocktail is the brand’s take on an Irish coffee, made using Bardinet Coffee, hot filter coffee, muscovado sugar and frothed cream.

The drink is inspired by the brand’s home in Bordeaux and the ‘free-thinking’ hip crowd who were earlier adopters of French café culture.

The expression is available to buy online from Amazon in the UK, priced at RRP £18.99 (US$23.20).
