Kirker Shamrock debuts in Tesco NI
Irish whiskey Kirker Shamrock Four Province Blend has secured a listing with UK retailer Tesco in Northern Ireland.
Said to be Ireland’s first and only four-province blended whiskey, the liquid was launched this year in time for St Patrick’s Day (17 March).
Kirker Shamrock is made up of six whiskeys from four different distillers across the four provinces of Ireland. These whiskies include: single grain, single malt, and single pot still styles. All have been matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon and oloroso Sherry casks.
The resulting liquid contains a blend of 60% grain and 40% malt/pot still whiskey.
The distilleries across the provinces of Ireland that provided the whiskeys comprise: The Great Northern Distillery from Leinster; The West Cork Distillery from Munster; The Shed Distillery from Connacht; and an unnamed producer in Ulster.
Richard Ryan, Drinksology Kirker Greer co-founder and head of liquid development, crafted Kirker Shamrock.
The 43% ABV whiskey is distributed internationally by Kirker Greer Spirits in countries including Germany, Poland and France.
The 700ml bottling can be bought from Tesco stores across Northern Ireland, and online through kirkerwhiskey.com for RRP £32 (US$41.77).
Kirker Greer Spirits’ brands also include Grand Kadoo rum, Jawbox Gin, Ukiyo Vodka, and Black Irish whiskey-and-stout spirit drink. The latter product recently launched in UK retailer Sainsbury’s in Northern Ireland.
