The Hennessy Golden Vines Diversity Scholarship, created in partnership with the Gérard Basset Foundation and Liquid Icons, will fund the winner’s participation in a 12-month internship at the Cognac house.

During the internship, the winner will gain experience in departments across Hennessy’s business, including education and training, winemaking, distillation and final assemblage.

The £55,000 award (US$72,300) will cover the participant’s loss of earnings during the period, as well as all costs for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 3 in Spirits course.

It is open to aspiring wine and spirits professionals from all minority groups.

“We are delighted that as prestigious a spirits brand as Hennessy has decided to join us to support a ground-breaking new scholarship programme for students from a minority background looking to study for and enter the world of spirits at the highest level in the industry,” said Lewis Chester, head of fundraising at the Gérard Basset Foundation.

“Our partnership bodes well for making the spirits sector a welcoming environment for minority communities globally.”

To apply, visit the Liquid Icons website. Applications close on 5 June 2022.

Last month, a study from Women of the Vine & Spirits highlighted the industry’s ‘significant’ room for improvement on matters of diversity and inclusion.
