The Spirit of Manchester Distillery projects it will triple export sales this year with new global distribution deals.

In 2021, the distillery’s sales were equal to 10% of its export sales

The distillery, which is based in Manchester, UK, has signed distribution agreements across six markets in Europe and South America.

By the end of 2022, the distillery predicts it will deliver a 30% increase in export sales. Export sales in 2021 accounted for 10% of the company’s total sales.

Following a distribution deal with alcohol retailer Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits Scandinavia, the distillery will begin exporting its full portfolio of Manchester Gin to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Finland.

Seb Heeley-Wiggins, co-founder at The Spirit of Manchester Distillery, said: “As we actively seek to expand our reach globally, these listings are huge platforms for us to showcase our total portfolio as The Spirit of Manchester Distillery.

“Our expansion into Northern Europe is very exciting for us, and the partnership with Marie Brizard plays a hugely important role in our international growth.

“Similarly we have worked hard to develop Chile as a strong base for our South American expansion having witnessed sustained growth in the gin category on the continent over the past five years.

“In addition to deals signed to begin shipping to the Adriatic Coast later in the year, this growth lays the groundwork for another exciting year of exports for us as we expand our reach internationally through our increasingly diverse portfolio, which now includes gins, vodka, rum and vermouth.”

The Manchester Gin portfolio comprises its Signature bottling, plus flavoured variants Raspberry Infused, Wild Spirit, Haçienda, Blackberry Infused and Overboard Navy Strength.

Laila Schmidt, brand manager at Marie Brizard, said, “The premium gin category has been booming in Denmark in recent years, and we were looking for a brand that could add premium quality to our portfolio.

“We came across Manchester Gin which checked all the boxes for us: a gorgeous-looking product with quality gin inside, a fantastic range, a great story and who hold sustainability and social responsibility close to their hearts.

“We are truly excited to embark on this adventure with Manchester Gin in our portfolio, and we have great expectations for the collaboration.”

Manchester Distillery’s range also includes the One-Eyed Rebel Spiced Rum, Manchester Spirit Grain Vodka, and Forty-Five Vermouth.

Last year, the distillery announced it would open a second facility in Manchester to meet an increased demand for its products.
