Bowsaw whiskey secures listing with Citti

American whiskey brand Bowsaw has expanded its availability with a listing in German hypermarket chain Citti.

The Small Batch Bourbon retails for RRP £30.24 (US$40.07)

Bowsaw Straight Corn and Bowsaw Small Batch Bourbon will both be sold in Citti stores throughout northern Germany, and will be distributed by Hamburg-based drinks retailer Hellwege Spirituosen.

The Straight Corn expression has been aged between four and five years in refill American oak barrels, and was made from a mash bill of 91% corn, 5% barley and 4% rye.

The liquid is bottled at 43% ABV, and presents a flavour profile of vanilla, cinnamon and straw, before opening up to notes of caramel, charred corn and salted butter.

Meanwhile, Bowsaw Small Batch Bourbon was aged for three years in charred American oak barrels, made from a mash bill comprising 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% barley.

On the nose, aromas of sweet toasted oak are delivered, while the palate boasts flavours of vanilla and honey. Clocking in at 40% ABV, the whiskey also delivers a spicy rye finish.

Bowsaw sources its whiskey from the north of Kentucky.

Bowsaw Straight Corn Whiskey retails for RRP £33.31 (US$44.15), while the Small Batch Bourbon can be purchased for RRP £30.24 (US$40.07). Both bottlings can also be bought from Spiritly or House of Malt.

In August this year, the brand expanded its European presence and gained a listing with drinks retailer Alko in Finland. Kirker Greer Spirits distributes the whiskey in the UK and Ireland, and also looks after the Black Irish whiskey-and-stout spirit drink.

Black Irish was recently caught up in a trademark war with All I Want for Christmas is You artist Mariah Carey, resulting in the singer being unable to sell her cream liqueur of the same name in the European Union (EU).
