Jawbox debuts ‘world’s largest’ bottle of gin

Irish gin brand Jawbox has created a 32-litre bottle of gin, which it claims to be the largest in the world.

The Jawbox Giant’s Edition is a larger version of the brand’s Export Strength gin, with an ABV of 47%. Containing an estimated 46 standard bottles of gin, the 73cm bottle is displayed in the Observatory Bar of The Grand Central hotel in Belfast. Hotel guests can enjoy a Jonathan’s Twist cocktail crafted using gin from the bottle, as well as the ‘G & Tea’ experience created to celebrate the occasion, with a selection of food inspired by the gin’s flavours.

The name and inspiration for the Jawbox Giant’s Edition derives from Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels. Swift was said to have been ‘inspired by the sight of the Belfast Hills’, which he felt ‘resembled a sleeping giant safeguarding the city’.

These hills feature the Black Mountain heather gathered to craft Jawbox Gin.

Jawbox Gin founder Gerry White said: “We are thrilled to launch the Jawbox Giant’s Edition.

“Our brand is inspired by the magnificent industrial era when ordinary men and women put Belfast on the map for hard graft and craft. Jawbox Export Strength is a modern expression of this uncompromising character, a character that will once again bring the hospitality industry back to the giant it was pre-lockdown.”

The initiative is supported by Tourism Northern Ireland and its ‘Embrace a Giant Spirit’ campaign.

White added: “The higher-strength liquid is a more intense expression of Jawbox Small Batch Gin and is perfect for cocktails. We really wanted to create some theatre around the bottle and this huge edition with a sleek matte black finish and gold foil accented label certainly does that.”
