Belgrove unveils spiced rum

The Cartmel Spirit Company has debuted a spiced fig and blackberry expression as the second Belgrove rum in its portfolio.

The 700ml bottle can be purchased for an RRP of £29.95 (US$41.07)
UK-based rum brand Belgrove has launched a single origin Demerara rum from Guyana, aged in oak barrels and infused with notes of fig, blackberry and cinnamon.

Edmund Wood, owner and founder of Belgrove, said: “After leafing through my flavour thesaurus and after months of trialing new flavour combinations I arrived at spiced fig and blackberry.

“Rich and fruity, with gentle notes of honeycomb, raspberry and a hint of cinnamon, it was worthy of joining the Belgrove shelf.”

The Demerara sugar cane is distilled using wooden pot and coffey stills, containing a blend of rums aged up to 12 years.

Wood added: “We’ve imported the rum into the UK, [and] we then infuse it with real ingredients, all natural flavours – nothing artificial goes in the bottle.

“My hero cocktail for both Belgrove rums is an Old Fashioned with chocolate bitters; but we’ve also created some new delicious cocktails just for the spiced fig and blackberry rum.”

Belgrove Spiced Fig & Blackberry Rum joins the company’s hazelnut expression, which was ‘the only hazelnut rum on the market’ when it launched in 2019.

The 40% ABV bottling can be purchased from Amazon for an RRP of £29.95 (US$41.07).
