Drinks-led investment group Nightcap has appointed Dawn Donohoe as managing director to drive the growth of London Cocktail Club.

Donohoe has been appointed to lead the growth of Nightcap’s London Cocktail Club (LCC), and was formerly managing director of food and entertainment-led business Enhanced Hospitality. She brings more than brings 20 years of experience running bar, nightclub and pub brands, and operating venues such as Shake Zulu in Camden.

Donohoe said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the team at LCC. I’m excited to be able to bring my love of the late-night sector and extensive management experience to the Nightcap team.

“Together we have ambitious plans to rejuvenate and reimagine the on-trade for the future.”

Drinks-led investment group Nightcap PLC was formed to back the UK premium bar sector, and founded by investors Sarah Willingham and Michael Toxvaerd in 2010.

The investment group acquired LCC in 2020, a purchase aligning with Nightcap’s aim of becoming ‘the UK’s leading bar operator’.

Willingham, Nightcap’s chief executive officer, said: “All of us at Nightcap are thrilled to have appointed someone of Dawn’s calibre and talent to drive the growth of London Cocktail Club. She has helped to launch and run a number of fantastic businesses over the years and has an unmatched track record in the late-night sector.

“Myself and the rest of the management team very much look forward to working with her as the industry emerges from the challenges of the past year.”

Donohoe is replacing Michelle Hall, who is leaving LCC after six years to pursue other opportunities.

Ex-Dragons’ Den star Willingham added: “While it’s sad to see Michelle leave, we have loved working with her and she leaves behind an incredible business and very happy team thanks to her work over the years. We wish her all the best in her move abroad and the new adventures that this will bring.”

Nightcap aims to build a stream of new sites in prime locations for LCC, with hopes to expand from its current 10 locations to 40 locations over next five years.

The news follows Nightcap’s acquisition of Adventure Bar Group (ABG) for £2.5million (US$3.5m).
