Whisky Me gains £75,000 investment on Dragons’ Den

Entrepreneurs Thomas Aske and Tristan Stephenson secured a £75,000 (US$105,000) investment on hit BBC programme Dragons’ Den for their whisky pouch subscription club, Whisky Me.

Broadcast in the UK last night (13 May) on BBC1, Aske and Stephenson secured the investment from three of the dragons – Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones and Tej Lalvani.

All three dragons made an offer for Whisky Me, with Aske and Stephenson eventually negotiating a joint investment with all three investors.

The deal saw Aske and Stephenson – also the founders of London bars Worship Street Whistling Shop and Black Rock – accept £75,000 for a 15% share of Whisky Me, split equally between Meaden, Jones and Lalvani.

Meaden said: “Thomas and Tristan came into the den with a great pitch, and it was clear that they work really well together and know the whisky market – I knew I wanted to be part of the Whisky Me journey.”

Jones was equally enthusiastic about the deal.

He said: “I have been waiting for a great whisky business to come into the den. Now one has and I’m excited to see Whisky Me reach its full potential.”

Whisky Me was established in 2017, designed to ‘demystify’ the whisky category and get top liquid to newcomers and connoisseurs alike.

Subscribers receive a 50ml letterbox-friendly pouch every month, with information and a live online tasting, as well as exclusive discounts and rewards.

Aske commented: “We’ve seen a huge shift in the last year towards better drinking at home, which is a natural reaction to many of our favourite bars and pubs being closed.

“With this investment we can grow Whisky Me further, introducing amazing whisky to a bigger audience of curious drinkers everywhere.”

SB recently put together a list of top whisky subscription clubs for fans looking to receive drams straight to their doors.
