TFWA China Reborn attracts thousands of viewers

The Tax Free World Association’s first China Reborn event saw thousands of people tune in to the three-day virtual conference this week.

TFWA’s first virtual China Reborn conference was hailed a ‘resounding success’

The inaugural China Reborn event took place online from 1 to 3 December. The China Reborn conference featured a range of seminar sessions offering insights on the recovery of the industry in China, including the latest traffic data, market developments, changes to shopping habits and online integrations across the market.

Alain Maingreaud, president of the Tax Free World Association (TFWA), kicked off the digital event with an opening speech.

The TFWA said there were more than 5,000 livesteam connections to the event.

The highest attendance was on the first day when 1,510 people viewed the English language livestream of the ‘Changing Market, Changing Consumer’ webinar. The Chinese version of the seminar attracted 1,460 participants.

More than 1,660 delegates tuned into the ‘Chinese Travel Today and Tomorrow’ session on the second day, while nearly 900 people attended ‘China and the World’ on day three.

Furthermore, 102 private business meetings were scheduled through the TFWA’s online meeting service.

“We hope these webinars have provided valuable insights into the remarkable strength of China’s duty free and travel retail market,” said Maingreaud. “Its resilience and ability to bounce back from the devastating impact of Covid-19 gives us much reason to believe our industry will emerge stronger from this crisis and prosper once again.

“We would like to thank our sponsors and everyone who made our first TFWA China Reborn event such a resounding success.”

Registered participants can watch the videos of the webinar sessions from China Reborn on the TFWA website.
