Brockmans Gin raises £13,740 for NHS workers

English gin brand Brockmans has raised £13,740 (US$17,048) through its ‘Rewards for Wards’ initiative, which will go towards providing hot meals for NHS frontline workers.

The money raised will go the Meals for the NHS organisation, which was established to feed NHS (National Health Service) workers who finish shifts at times when canteens and shops would likely be closed.

Each time someone purchased a bottle of Brockmans Gin from the brand’s shop throughout April, a donation of £6 (US$7.50) or £10 (US$12.50) was made to the charity. Postage was also waived and the gin was on sale at a lower price than usual.

Guy Lawrence, managing director of Brockmans Gin, said: “At a time like no other, we, like so many other companies and individuals, decided to support our heroic frontline health workers.

“We hoped to raise £10,000 [US$12,420], however, with the support of our customers, I and the team are delighted that we far exceeded that total.

“Our funds raised enough to provide over 2,000 meals for NHS workers. Meals for the NHS is a brilliant cause and is working with restaurants to provide hot, healthy meals for those who are doing so much to help others.”

Brockmans Gin normally retails for RRP £34 (US$42). The brand reported “record results” in 2018 after total revenue grew 26%, boosted by the UK market.

In October last year, former Diageo CEO Paul Walsh acquired a stake in Brockmans for an undisclosed sum.
