Vinexpo NY schedule to cover Cognac and cannabis

Trade show Vinexpo New York has revealed the conference programme for its third event next month, which will put the spotlight on Cognac, cannabis, and low- and no-alcohol.

Vinexpo New York will take place from 2-3 March 2020

Vinexpo New York will take place from 2-3 March 2020 at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center, and will mark Vinexpo’s third year in the city.

This year’s show will see Adam Teeter from drinks media company Vinepair hold ‘The Health Halo – How health is impacting how we drink’ session, looking at the “surging interest” in low- and no-alcohol.

Kate Senzamici of cannabidiol (CBD) market research firm BDS Analytics will present ‘Cannabis trends and the impact on beverage alcohol’, while a panel of wine retailers will hold a seminar on ‘The changing world of wine retail’.

The IWSR Drinks Market Analysis’ Brandy Rand will look at global and US alcohol trends and share forecasts across spirits, wine, beer and ready-to-drink. Rand will also discuss “underlying consumption drivers” including wellness, changing consumption environments and e-commerce.

There will also be a panel conference called ‘Expertise & Experience: Four industry leaders share their perspectives’, while online drinks magazine Sevenfifty Daily will hold a presentation on technology in wine and spirits.

The masterclass programme will feature a Cognac seminar, held by Cognac educator and bartender Franky Marshall. The session will look at the history and production behind the French spirit, and how to enjoy it, and will include a tasting of six Cognacs.

Trade organisation Sonoma County Winegrowers will look at sustainable agriculture in wine. Glassware producer Riedel will also host two masterclasses, details of which will be announced soon.

New additions to the 2020 event include an “informal” area, called The Buzz. The space enables information-sharing, group discussion and networking with a focus on current events, issues and trends impacting the US alcohol market. Vinexpo New York advisory board members will moderate discussions on laws and distribution, tariffs, spirits and consumption trends.

The event’s complimentary matchmaking service, One to Wine meetings, has opened for enrolment for pre-registered attendees. The platform for meeting selections opens on 10 February.

Vinexpo New York has already lined up exhibitors from 22 countries for its 2020 show – including spirits producers from New Zealand and Ukraine.
