Jameson creates NFC bottle for St Patrick’s Day

Irish Distillers has unveiled the eighth limited edition bottle design for Jameson in celebration of St Patrick’s Day, which gives fans the chance to create their own virtual label online.

This is the eighth limited edition St Patrick’s Day design from Jameson

Dublin-based designer and illustrator Stephen ‘Hephee’ Heffernan was employed to create the latest limited edition design.

His creation aims to communicate the “real magic” that happens when friends get together. Furthermore, near field communication (NFC) technology means fans can enjoy a more interactive experience this year.

An NFC chip and QR code on the neck of the bottle enables fans to customise their own Jameson label through hidden icons, also designed by Heffernan.

They can then enter their design into a competition for the chance to win a bespoke Jameson bar sign. Consumers in key markets will also have the opportunity to win their own personalised limited edition bottle.

Brendan Buckley, international marketing director at Irish Distillers, said: “This year we are deepening the connection with our fans with an offering that reflects the brand’s appreciation of local talent through Stephen’s artwork, and encourages digital engagement that taps into the growing popularity of customisation of the connected nature of the bottle.”

The limited edition St Patrick’s Day bottle will be available globally from February in markets including Ireland, Japan, Canada, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, New Zealand, Korea, Greece, Estonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Lebanon and Malta, to name just a few.
