Christmas tree tips flavour Berkshire dry gin

English distiller Yattendon has created a gin using Christmas tree tips as one of its key botanicals, called Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin.

Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin is flavoured with Norway spruce and eight other botanicals

Distilled at the Berkshire-based distillery, the new gin is flavoured with Norway spruce tips, as well as eight other botanicals – juniper, coriander, angelica, sweet orange peel, pink grapefruit, lemon peel, cassia and orris.

Bottled at 40.3% ABV, Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin is said to have a “crisp and delicate taste” on the palate. The new gin is priced at £20 (US$26) per 500ml bottle.

Yattendon Distillery has also unveiled a Sloe Gin, which was made by infusing its classic gin with sloe berries. Bottled at 28% ABV, Berkshire Botanical Sloe Gin is priced at £18 (US$23) per 500ml bottle.

Johnny Neill, founder of the Berkshire Botanical spirits collection, said: “I’m delighted to be launching the first two gins from Berkshire Botanical in time for Christmas. Our philosophy is to create enduring, sustainable botanical spirits and liqueurs using the inspiration of botanicals growing within the beautiful area of Yattendon.

“I’m particularly excited about the use of Norway spruce within our Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin – it’s a real nod to the area’s acclaim to Christmas tree growth and the land that it is distilled upon. If you’re after gin that truly embodies the spirit of Christmas, you can’t do much better than this.”

Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin and Sloe Gin are available to buy from Amazon, Master of Malt and The Drop Store.
