Bar Convent Berlin reveals new location for 2020

On-trade show Bar Convent Berlin will relocate to a bigger venue next year and will introduce a new concept, called City Life Spirits.

Bar Convent Berlin will hold its 2020 show at exhibition centre Messe Berlin

From 12-14 October 2020, Bar Convent Berlin (BCB) will be held below the Funkturm, a former radio tower located on the grounds of exhibition centre Messe Berlin.

The move to Messe Berlin will allow the show the opportunity to expand. It will also provide more space for exhibitors to be creative with their stands.

“The new venue reflects the Golden Twenties in the Funkturm, the 1930s look in the exhibition hall architecture, and the charm of the 1950s in the Palais – this atmosphere is very important to us,” said BCB director Petra Lassahn.

“There are no two places alike here. Every room has its own charm and architectural highlights – it is a perfect fit for the BCB.”

The annual event for the global bar industry first launched in 2007 and has occupied a number of sites in the German capital, including Station Berlin, Glashaus and Postbahnhof.

Since its inception, the show has grown from eight exhibitors to one of the biggest events for the bar and spirits industry. The event welcomes visitors from more than 80 countries annually.

For next year’s show, BCB will also introduce a new concept that “reflects the urban life of modern Berlin”, called City Life Spirits.

“BCB and Berlin are inseparable for us, and this new concept will unify the show and the city’s character, bringing Berlin’s urban spirit to the exhibition halls,” added Lassahn.

The new concept will be showcased through “architecture, content and interaction” at the 2020 show.

Each exhibition hall will reflect the “trends of big city life”, including an urban market, a French bistro and a community bar. It will also offer co-working spaces, a rooftop bar and a BCB Lab.

Transit zones will also be transformed into vibrant areas with late-night convenience stores, coffee bars, exhibitions and musical performances.
