Artesian names Marco Corallo as its head bartender

London cocktail bar Artesian at The Langham hotel has hired Marco Corallo as head bartender following the departure of Remy Savage.

Corallo will work alongside bar manager Anna Sebastian, who joined Artesian with Savage in November 2017.

He joins Artesian from his role as beverage manager at Caesar’s Palace & Resort in Dubai, where he oversaw 14 different food and drinks outlets and was the creative director of cocktail lists.

Italian-born Corallo began his career at The Savoy hotel in London in the position of head sommelier at Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill.

He then moved to the Middle East and worked at Ray’s Bar at the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, followed by the Hendricks Bar at the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach in Dubai.

Corallo helped to secure Hendricks Bar as one of the top five hotel bars in the Middle East & Africa at Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards in 2018.

“I’m so excited to be back in London in a dream role at Artesian, a bar with so much history and style,” said Corallo.

“The London bar scene is really thrilling at the moment and I hope to create new and exciting ways to enjoy cocktails, working with Anna Sebastian and the great team at The Langham, London.”

Savage made the decision to depart the London venue to “pursue his own project on both sides of the channel”.

“It’s been a real privilege to work at Artesian with such a strong team,” he said. “I am pleased that during my time here we have been able to regain attention and recognition from our industry by exploring different concepts as ideas, and I’m genuinely grateful to The Langham for supporting us in that creative process.”

Savage and Sebastian created a number of cocktail lists for the Artesian, including a minimalist menu in April this year, the Artesian Moments menu in 2018 and Cause, Effect & Classic Cocktails in December 2017.

The Artesian recently hosted a series of takeover events featuring guest shifts with bartenders from around the world.
