Top cocktails to try before summer ends

The world’s bars are continually concocting new cocktails, making it a tough choice to select your next tipple. Here, SB rounds up the latest seasonal serves worth sampling before summer ends north of the Equator.

Coupette in London launched a refreshed summer menu

With new, imaginative cocktail menus launching every week it can seem like an impossible task to keep up with all the latest drinks being shaken, thrown and stirred.

As high profile venues such as Atlas, Death & Co, Connaught Bar and Nightjar dominate drinks websites with their latest creations, some newly-launched bars and menus can, at times, miss out on the limelight.

From drinks served at a recently-opened New York agaveria to a refreshed Singapore Sling, SB has rounded up some of the best new concoctions that are worth sampling before summer moves from the northern hemisphere down south.

Flick through our gallery to see five new cocktails from around the world to try before the end of summer.

Caminante

Recently-launched New York agaveria The Cabinet has been serving up the Caminate since opening its doors in May.

The Tequila and mezcal specialist bar, which was opened by Cocktail Kingdom’s Greg Boehm and Jeannette Kaczorowski, serves this blend of Azteca Azul Tequila, jalapeño, lemon and almond in a traditional jicara – a small cup used by producers to sample their spirits.

Here Comes the Sun

This series of cocktails, created in honour of The Beatles’ Abbey Road album, are available for a limited time through the summer months.

Designed by the team at London’s The Ivy St John’s Wood, the series features four cocktails inspired by songs on the album, with Here Comes the Sun, made with saffron-infused Altos Tequila, Earl Grey sake, blood orange purée, fresh orange juice and Earl Grey syrup, in particular catching SB’s eye.

Singapore Sling

Famed Singapore hotel Raffles reopened following an extensive refurbishment earlier this month, which seems like a perfect opportunity to sit back and relax with a Singapore Sling.

The classic cocktail was created in the hotel’s Long Bar, and to mark it’s reopening the team has mixed up a ‘refreshed’ Singapore Sling made with Widges Gin, Luxardo Cherry Sangue Morlacco, Ferrand Dry Curaçao, Scrappy’s Spice Plantation Bitters and grenadine.

Tequila Calling

After hosting the final of its Britain’s Best Tequila Cocktail Competition, London cocktail bar Hacha is now serving up the winning drink on its menu.

Mark McClintock, of Every Cloud bar in Hackney, triumphed in the competition and imbibers visiting Hacha can now sample his winning Tequila Calling cocktail, which is made with sugar snap pea-infused Arette Tequila, homemade granny smith apple cordial and fino Sherry.

Passionfruit Negroni Shakerato

“It’s always Negroni time somewhere,” according to Stockholm bar Tjoget. To quash any theories that the Italian classic cocktail isn’t the type of drink to be enjoyed on a long summers evening the Swedish bar is serving up this seasonal twist on the Negroni.

The Passionfruit Negroni Shakerato is made with Fords Gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, passionfruit, lime and peach.
