The J2 Racing team has bought two Mercedes-AMG GT3 supercars, which both feature Rooster Rojo branding.

This is the first time the J2 Racing team will be entering races with two cars, one of which will be driven by team members John Schoffner, Janine Hill and Fabian Schiller.

Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel’s younger brother, Fabian Vettel, will drive the second car during the opening of the VLN season, along with Philip Ellis, Indy Dontje and Christopher Brück.

The second season of the motorsport championship got under way on Saturday, 23 March.

Mantas Zlatkus, global brand director of Rooster Rojo Tequila, said: “This will be an exciting year for Rooster Rojo as we will be participating [in] all nine VLN Endurance Championship races, we will stay awake during the ADAC 24-hour race and will meet our fans and VIPs to share the love towards the life full of adventures.

“Another new fact places us right next to such industry players as Martini and Johnnie Walker – now the team is named Rooster Rojo J2 Racing team, which is another approval of our close partnership with the racing team.”

J2 Racing has also been selected as one of five teams to take part in a documentary about VLN races, commissioned by Nüburgring TV.

Titled The Hell, filming for the documentary started at trade show ProWein last week, in Düsseldorf, Germany. The first episode is scheduled to be broadcast in June.

Amber Beverage Group released Rooster Rojo in September 2017 – the company’s first new Tequila expression since it purchased Jalisco-based Fabrica de Tequilas Finos in 2017.
