Lizzy Rudd to remain in leadership role at Berry Bros

Berry Bros & Rudd has called off its search for a new CEO and announced that Lizzy Rudd will continue to lead the company as executive chairman.

Rudd was chairman of Berry Bros until the group’s CEO Dan Jago stepped down in January this year, when she took on the interim role of executive chairman.

However, both the executive and family board members have agreed that Rudd should remain in the position “for the foreseeable future”, meaning a new CEO will not be hired.

“Following much consideration and after discussion with members of our executive board and owners board, I can confirm we have called off our search for a new CEO and I will be remaining in the role of executive chairman for the foreseeable future,” said Rudd.

“With responsibility for the overall strategic direction of the business, I will be closely supported by our board members as well as our leadership team.”

Jago, a former director at Tesco and current chairman of the Wine & Spirits Trade Association, left Berry Bros at the start of this year after three-and-a-half years as CEO.

Established in London in 1698, British wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros remains family-run. Earlier this month, the firm unveiled a new series of limited edition Scotch whiskies featuring the photography of Lindsay Robertson.
