Diageo Reserve ambassador to open London Tequila bar

Deano Moncrieffe, Diageo Reserve luxury Tequila ambassador, is preparing to open a specialist agave spirits bar in London next month.

Diageo Reserve luxury Tequila ambassador Deano Moncrieffe will open Hacha on Kingsland Road

Moncrieffe will open Hacha in April on London’s Kingsland Road, where it will serve up an evolving menu of 25 different Tequilas, mezcals and lesser-known agave-based spirits.

Named after the axe used to cut agave piñas, spirits will be available to order individually or as a tasting flight, with each serve paired with a flavour enhancer such as añejo Tequila with rum soaked grilled pineapple.

On the cocktail menu, Hacha’s signature drink will be the Mirror Margarita, served on tap from a fountain on the back bar. It will be finished with citrus mist and served on the rocks Tommy’s style.

Moncrieffe will also be mixing up some reimagined classic Tequila cocktails, including a Tequila Sunrise, made with clarified orange juice, hibiscus and pomegranate shrub, and the Batanga, which combines añejo Tequila, homemade cola and a Guinness float, served straight up in the style of an Espresso Martini.

Inspired by the cuisine of Mexico, the food offering will feature a selection of small sharing plates to complement the drinks menu. The contemporary dishes will include a trio of ceviche that will be accompanied by a taster size sorbet of key cocktails.

The Kingsland Road venue will feature touches of contemporary Mexican culture against a soundtrack of soul, funk and hip-hop. The intimate space will seat 40 including six seats around the bar.
