Grant’s Distinction launches exclusively in India

William Grant & Sons has grown its Grant’s blended Scotch whisky portfolio with the launch of Grant’s Distinction exclusively in India.

Grant’s Distinction will be available exclusively in India

Grant’s Distinction has been released in Goa in time for the Christmas period with an RRP of 1,275 INR (US$17.50). It will be rolled out nationwide in due course.

William Grant & Sons hopes to tap into the “increasing demand for premium spirits in India” with Grant’s Distinction.

Brian Kinsman, master blender at William Grant & Sons, said: “I wanted to make a Scotch that would be rich, smooth and mixable. It was important to retain the ‘house style’ for the Grant’s family, which is delicate fresh fruit flavours with subtle spice for smoothness.

“But at the heart of Grant’s Distinction I have used a single malt whisky from a distillery that gives a robust, malty and raisin cake rich character to the blend, which makes it highly mixable.”

William Grant launched Grant’s in India for the first time in June this year after signing a deal with Modi Distilleries to bottle the blended Scotch.

According to IWSR figures quoted by William Grant, India is forecast to be one of the biggest contributors to global whisky growth over the next five years. The blended Scotch market in India is expected to grow to five million cases by 2021.

James Pennefather, managing director of William Grant & Sons India, said: “We see a clear opportunity to bring in new brands targeted at the next generation of Scotch drinkers, those who are already making progress in their careers but still appreciate the fact that it is those around them who keep them grounded and real.

“The smooth, rich flavours of Grant’s Distinction are certain to inspire conversations amongst friend to help them ‘find their distinction’, which will be the brand’s call to action.

“We are also proud of the fact that not only has India been chosen as the launch market for Grant’s Distinction, it is also the only place outside Scotland where this world-famous Scotch brand is bottled.”

Earlier this year, Grant’s revealed a brand overhaul and new streamlined core range featuring three new whiskies, while also announcing the discontinuation of various expressions.
