First single estate Patrón Tequila launches in US

Patrón has launched its first single estate Tequila, made exclusively using blue weber agave grown and harvested on the grounds of its hacienda.

Patrón Estate Release is the first single estate bottling from the Tequila brand

While the wider Patrón range is created using agave cultivated throughout the highlands of Jalisco, Patrón Estate Release, a blanco Tequila, uses only crops grown on the grounds surrounding its distillery in Atotonilco el Alto.

According to the brand, this land is “filled with a nutrient-dense fertiliser compost that comes from agave fibres remaining from the Patrón production process”. The 84 proof (42% abv) Tequila is said to offer “herbal and citrus notes” from its unique harvest on the hacienda grounds.

Once harvested, the agave is crushed using the traditional tahona process ahead of distillation.

“Sustainability and superior terroir are important parts of our brand and Tequila, and we are proud of our agronomy team’s dedication to composting and land management efforts that have made this inaugural Tequila release possible,” said Lee Applbaum, global chief marketing officer at Patrón.

“Patrón Estate Release is a labour of love from start to finish, making this more than a bottle of Tequila – it’s a piece of our hacienda, and one which we can only realise every eight years as the new crops mature.”

The expression is exclusively available in the US at an RRP of US$100.

Bacardi completed its acquisition of Patrón in April this year. The brand recently partnered with Fever-Tree to launch a citrus-flavoured tonic water.
