TLDC launches ‘first’ London whiskey in 100 years
The London Distillery Company (TLDC) has released a four-year-old rye whiskey, which claims to be the first London-distilled expression in more than a century.

Bottled at 54.3% abv, The London Distillery Company Rye Whiskey LV-1767 Edition is made from 100% rye and is twice distilled. Only 251 bottles have been produced, priced at £251 (US$327) each.
The expression has been matured for four years in new English oak barrels, said to give aromas of chocolate and roasted coffee, with cinnamon, stewed peaches and beeswax on the palate, finishing with white pepper spice, dark cherry and a hint of macadamia.
Matt McGivern, head of distilling and operations at TLDC, said: “Everyone at the London Distillery Company are so honoured to be re-establishing the distillation of whiskey in London after so many years.
“In new English oak casks, the liquid has matured quickly into a beautifully deep and sumptuous drop, with powerful notes form start to finish.
“We’ve allowed a few highly regarded experts to reaffirm our belief that this is a special liquid and to confirm that this product is truly deserving to be called London’s first whisky in a generation.”
In 2017, TLDC, which also produces Dodd’s Gin, revealed plans to relocate to Battersea Power Station.
