John Crabbie & Co launches 12yo Scotch whisky

Halewood-owned whisky brand John Crabbie & Co has expanded its portfolio with the launch of a 12-year-old Island single malt Scotch whisky.

The 12-year-old expression is said to have flavours of “sweet honey, grilled orange and green tea”

John Crabbie & Co 12 Year Old Island Single Malt has been distilled at a single, undisclosed Scottish Island distillery and bottled by the brand.

The lightly peated expression is said to have “deeply malty and fresh aromas” at first, while the palate has a “touch of sweet honey, grilled orange and green tea, before a long-lasting smoke finish”.

David Brown, managing director of John Crabbie & Co, said: “With the launch of this exceptional tasting, premium 12-year-old single malt, we are staying true to our brand legacy by continuing to source some truly spectacular casks from some of the most famed distilleries across Scotland.

“This latest bottling adds another dimension to our renowned portfolio and provides the opportunity for new and existing single malt Scotch enthusiasts to experience an additional variant, and a new style within the Crabbie whisky collection.”

Bottled at 43% abv, the 12-year-old single malt is available in the UK, China and South Africa with a recommended retail price of £35 (US$46) per 700ml bottle.

The Crabbie whisky brand was revived by spirits maker Halewood International earlier this year with the launch of two eight- and 30-year-old expressions. Halewood has also submitted a planning application to construct a distillery near Edinburgh under the John Crabbie & Co name.
