GlenDronach relaunches 15-year-old single malt

Highland distillery GlenDronach has relaunched The GlenDronach Revival, a 15-year-old single malt Scotch whisky matured in Sherry casks.

The GlenDronach Revival is bottled at 46% abv

The GlenDronach Revival has been matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and oloroso Sherry casks from Andalucía. It is bottled at 46% abv.

The expression has tasting notes of maraschino cherry, ripe bramble and dark chocolate mint with hints of orange bitters and walnut liqueur on the nose.

The palate is described as honey-glazed apricot and ripe fig with a crescendo of black cherry, angelica and muscovado.

The GlenDronach 15-year-old was introduced in the 1990s at an abv of 40% abv.

It ceased to be bottled until it was reintroduced again in 2009 as GlenDronach Revival and bottled at 46% abv. The whisky was then discontinued in 2015 due to stock constraints.

The GlenDronach master blender Rachel Barrie said: “Today marks the return of The GlenDronach Revival Aged 15 years, an iconic aged expression of critical acclaim, revered by connoisseurs around the globe.

“After years of slumber, this relaunched expression embodies The GlenDronach signature style of Spanish oak maturation in fine Pedro Ximénez and oloroso Sherry casks from Andalucía. Over 15 years in the darkness of our dunnage warehouses, the spirit has grown in stature, refinement and intensity.

“The GlenDronach 15-year-old Revival has an exquisite balance of intensity and finesse. In flavour, intense notes of ripe dark fruits and manuka honey envelope into an elegant silk-velvet chocolate finish, reflecting the richly layered complexity of this iconic single malt.”

The GlenDronach Revival is available from The GlenDronach Distillery for four weeks and will be released globally thereafter at an RRP of £62.
