Actor Chris Noth buys Ambhar Tequila
Sex and the City actor Chris Noth has acquired a majority stake in ultra-premium Tequila brand Ambhar.
Law & Order actor Chris Noth will be involved in Ambhar Tequila’s “creative direction”
The Ambhar Tequila range consists of Plata, Reposado, and Añejo expressions and is made in small batches from 100% blue agave. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
American actor Noth will be involved in the company’s “creative direction” and will work with the co-founders on “strategic business decisions”.
Noth, who is also known for his roles on Law & Order and The Good Wife, was instrumental in securing a national distribution deal with Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC). The deal will see the brand expand to new markets in the US.
The Ambhar Tequila range is available in select stores across Florida, Texas, California, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Mexico, and in duty-free across Mexico. It will soon be available in New York, Colorado, Illinois, and Ohio.
Prior to the company’s deal with RNDC, Ambhar had an “ongoing strategic relationship” with distributor Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, allowing the brand to enter the US market.
“My involvement with Ambhar Tequila starts with this basic premise – I drink it. It’s delicious and soul satisfying. So… why not?” said Noth.
“I’m really excited about the opportunity to help reinvent the perception of Tequila and elevate the experience of enjoying this ultra-premium spirit the way it’s supposed to be, one sip at a time.
“As an entrepreneur and co-owner of The Cutting Room in New York City, I’m pretty well versed in spirits, and I have to admit that Ambhar is the first Tequila I’ve been excited about drinking by itself.”
Jaime Celorio, founder and CEO of Ambhar Tequila, said: “We are thrilled that Chris has decided to become part of the Ambhar family.
“He truly understands the company’s authentic heritage and our commitment to creating a unique artesian experience.”
Noth is the latest star to jump on the spirits bandwagon. In February this year, Ryan Reynolds purchased American brand Aviation Gin, while George Clooney’s Casamigos Tequila brand was recently bought by Diageo in a deal worth US$1 billion.
