Liverpool Gin to open £1 million distillery

Halewood Wines & Spirits is planning to open a £1 million (US$1.3m) distillery for its Liverpool Gin brand by the end of 2018.

The new Liverpool Gin distillery will be located on Castle Street, Liverpool

Situated in Castle Street, Liverpool, UK, the site will include a distillery, two bars, a gin lab and a bartender school.

The development will provide gin fans with the chance to learn how to make the spirit in the gin lab, where they will be able choose their own botanicals and distil their own gin to take home.

Visitors will also be able to see Liverpool Gin being made in a 600-litre copper pot still. A “premium” spirits bar will be on the ground floor, while a dark spirits bar will be located in the basement.

Lee Tayburn, operations director, Halewood Wines & Spirits, said: “Liverpool Gin is one the city’s most well-loved premium brands and the new distillery, right in the heart of Liverpool’s bustling food and drink hub, will provide an accessible interactive experience which will appeal to both locals and visitors alike.”

Last month, Halewood Wines & Spirits appointed financial advisory group Rothschild to explore “potential sale options” as the company grows internationally.

In August 2017, Halewood Wines & Spirits revealed proposals for a gin and malt whisky microdistillery in Edinburgh to bring the Crabbie brand back to the Scottish city.
