Four Pillars Gin appoints creative director

Australian gin brand Four Pillars has appointed award-winning bartender James Irvine to the newly created position of creative director – gin drinks.

James Irvine has been appointed creative director – gin drinks at Four Pillars

Effective from 7 May, Irvine will be tasked with overseeing educational endeavours, on- and off-trade training, bartending shifts and helping to establish the Four Pillars Drinks Lab, which is scheduled to open in 2019.

Irvine boasts eight years of bartending experience, most recently working as beverage director for Swillhouse, which looks after Shady Pines Saloon, Baxter Inn, Frankie’s Pizza and Restaurant Hubert.

He also won the Australia Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge 2016, which saw him work as a brand ambassador for Angostura for two years.

Irvine said: “If working with the legends at Swillhouse was the dream bartending job then this might be the same from a brand perspective.

“To work on an Australian brand that I know so well and genuinely love with a passion is a truly epic opportunity. And to help create the Four Pillars Drinks Lab here in Sydney will be incredible fun.”
