An early bottle of Dockyard Gin, produced at the Copper Rivet Distillery, was this week found on a Kent riverbed.

The bottling was found in the yacht basin on the River Medway in Kent, next door to the Copper Rivet distillery.

The expression is made with nine botanicals, including Italian juniper, elderflower, coriander seeds and orange peel.

Black Cow Vodka hosted its inaugural Edible Land and Seascapes event in Malibu earlier this week.

The brand’s founder, Paul Archard, and English chef, Mark Hix, guided guests through a four-course dinner as they discussed food in the 21st century.

In attendance on the night were film director Ridley Scott, Star Trek star Chris Pine, Lord of the Rings actor Orlando Bloom (pictured centre) and actor Christina Hendricks.

The Gin Kitchen this week moved into its new home, a converted barn on the outskirts of Dorking, England.

The brand’s owners, Helen Muncie and Kate Gregory, will now create their spirits in a converted barn on Punchbowl Lane in the Dorking countryside.

The move means the brand will be able to upscale its production from 60 bottles per day to around 300 bottles, thanks to the installation of a new 350-litre still.

The Spirits Business team headed to chef James Cochran’s pop-up in Islington this week to host the Cognac and Brandy rounds of our Spirits Masters competition.

The latest competition saw the assembled judging panel taste their way through VS, VSOP, XO and Single Vintage Cognacs and brandies, awarding Silver, Gold and Masters medals to the best examples.

Bacardi-owned Havana Club took its Amparo experience to New York this week for its first performance in the city.

The immersive theatrical performance portrays the exile of the Havana Club owners and hopes to reaffirm the brand’s Cuban legacy.

Combining education and entertainment, the experience was packed with history, high drama, live music and bespoke cocktails.

Upon arrival, show-goers were treated to an intimate cocktail reception where signature Havana Club cocktails were served, including the Havana Café, Airmail and Guava Daiquiri.

This week saw Whisky.Auction’s latest monthly auction go live featuring a special Johnnie Walker bottling.

The Johnnie Walker 1820-1970 150th Anniversary decanter was never commercially available but was instead given to certain staff and friends of the distillery on its anniversary in 1970.

The bottling features the 1820-1970 striding man logo etched onto the bottle, which was commissioned specially for the festivities to mark the brand’s anniversary.

London Dry gin brand Bulldog this week launched its latest partnership with live music venue The Printworks, which will cover a number of events and activations throughout 2018.

The gin brand will host a number of activations over the venue’s 75 events taking place before the end of the year, which are expected to see more than 300,000 music fans and partygoers pass through the venues doors.

This week, SB headed to Maison Assouline in London for the launch of Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1989.

The evening was hosted by Glenmorangie head of maturing whisky stocks, Brendan McCarron, who talked guests through the limited-edition bottling, which is finished in ex-Côte-Rôtie casks.

The launch also included a dinner featuring courses that were designed to match the flavour profile of Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1989.
