Lakes Distillery grows travel retail footprint

Cumbria-based The Lakes Distillery has expanded its product availability in travel retail after signing a deal with World Duty Free.

Five products from The Lakes Distillery will now be listed in stores at 10 UK airports

The English distillery has secured listings for its products in World Duty Free stores in 10 international airports across the UK, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Edinburgh.

This expansion of its airport distribution network, including the distillery’s first travel retail listing in Scotland, follows the “successful” launches of its gin expression in Newcastle and Manchester airports.

World Duty Free stores will now list five products from The Lakes Distillery, including The Lakes Gin Explorer, The Lakes Salted Caramel Vodka Liqueur, and The Lakes Rhubarb and Rosehip Gin Liqueur.

Nigel Mills, CEO of The Lakes Distillery, said: “We are already seeing interest for exports from across the world, but these products sold in duty free outlets across the UK, will become brand advocates themselves, as they distribute across the world in people’s hand luggage.

“This news, as well as our planned whisky launches in 2018, means we are looking at a year of exceptional growth for the company.”

Earlier this year, The Lakes Distillery expanded its operations department in order to keep up with increasing demand for its products.
