Wemyss Malts moves into cask finishing

Scotch whisky bottler Wemyss Malts has released a blended malt called Nectar Grove, which also marks the company’s first foray into cask finishing.

Nectar Grove is the first cask-finished whisky bottled by Wemyss Malts

Nectar Grove is a blend of Highland malt whiskies and has been finished in casks that previously held Madeira wine. The whisky features packaging inspired by Portuguese ceramics and fretwork.

It follows the launch of blended malts The Hive, Spice King and Peat Chimney.

William Wemyss, founder and managing director of the company, said: “We are delighted with the results of our first ‘finished’ blended malt.

“Nectar Grove continues our line of limited-edition blended malts, which has previously included World Whisky Award-winners Velvet Fig and Kiln Embers.”

Edinburgh-based Wemyss Malts is primarily a bottler of Scottish whisky, but opened the Kingsbarns single malt distillery in Fife in 2014 and the Darnley’s Gin Distillery in 2017.
