Pernod creates cocktail-making skill for Amazon

Pernod Ricard UK has developed a new cocktail-making voice-activated skill in partnership with Amazon to capitalise on the “growing demand” for at-home entertaining.

Pernod Ricard’s ‘What Cocktail?’ skill offers easy-to-follow cocktail recipes

The company’s new ‘What Cocktail?’ Alexa Skill is compatible with the Amazon Show device, and helps millennials create drinks out of ingredients they already have at home.

According to Pernod Ricard, 88% of young adults are more likely to make cocktails at home if the process was easier. The number of people enjoying cocktails at home has increased 23%, with 22 million cocktails searches made in the last year.

The ‘What Cocktail?’ skill offers easy-to-follow cocktail recipes, serve suggestions generated from user-inputted ingredients, and cocktail recipes ideal for specific occasions such as, Halloween and Christmas.

Sille Opstrup, head of digital for Pernod Ricard UK, comments: “Experimenting with smart technology is just one of the ways we are continuing our mission to shape the nation’s drinking experiences and we’re incredibly excited to be driving further innovation within the cocktail world. Voice-activated products are changing how we interact with technology, and with voice-led searches already up to three times qicker than text-searching, and with experts predicting 50% of enquires will be made this way by 2020, now is the time to start connecting with audiences using this platform.

The ‘What Cocktail?’ skill is available to download for free from the Alexa Skills store.
