Jefferson’s Bourbon unveils Presidential Select

Kentucky small-batch Bourbon brand Jefferson’s has released its latest expression – Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Old.

Jefferson’s Presidential Select is aged for 11 years in Bourbon casks before finishing for 5 years in new casks

Presidential Select has been launched as a tribute to the brand’s namesake, third president of the US, Thomas Jefferson.

In a statement, Jefferson’s said this whiskey is “poised to be a collectable classic, following in the footsteps of the original Jefferson’s Presidential Select”.

Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Old has been aged in two different casks. It began maturation in American oak casks for 11 years. From there, the Bourbon was transferred into fresh casks for a further five years maturation.

This ageing process means Jefferson’s Presidential Select “retains the bright notes found in a classic Bourbon, but adds a depth of flavour and complexity that can be gained only through long years of extra ageing in new barrels”.

Tasting notes for Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Old include an “orange spice and vanilla aroma, with hints of tobacco, leather and spice, and warm molasses on the finish”.

Parent company Castle Brands had previously reported a 21% rise in whiskey revenue for the first six months of the 2018 fiscal year.

The small-batch Bourbon brand’s latest release will be available in extremely limited quantities.

The Bourbon will be available for US$199.99 from leading spirits retailers.
