London Essence Co unveils bartender mentoring initiative

Leading on-trade figures, including Nick Strangeway and Stu Bale, are launching a collaborative forum to bring bartenders together and tap into their creative potential.

The London Essence Company will launch its first programme this autumn

The London Essence Company – which makes tonics and mixers, and was created in collaboration with trade experts including Strangeway – will host the Essence of the Season this autumn/winter based on the theme of ‘wintry forestry’.

The group will support seven London-based bartenders during the forum’s first season, who will be given the chance to create their own expression inspired by the season under the guidance of mentors Strangeway, Bell, photographer Addie Chinn and forager/alchemist Jemma Foster.

The Essence of the Season programme will launch with a workshop at Bale’s newly opened Crucible in London. Hamish Bremner, brand ambassador for The London Essence Co, will select participants for the programme.

The London Essence Co has pledged to support each bartender’s development and help promote their creations across the drinks industry, while also offering social media and presentation skills training.

Bremner said: “As a bartender myself, I know how important it can be to express creativity. Whether it is creating drinks for people off the cuff or designing drinks with a team.

“With our seasonal project we are creating a support structure that will grow, change and be rewarding for years to come.”
